The Blue Peace Middle East (Blue Peace ME) is a dynamic initiative that brings together regional partners to strengthen collaborations in water resource security which transcends borders, sectors, and generations. Working with senior water experts, politicians, academics, and media professionals in four countries - Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Türkiye, the initiative aims to contribute to the region’s water, food, and energy security, while safeguarding ecosystems in a changing climate.
Distinguished as the first initiative of its kind in the Middle East, the Blue Peace ME provides a unique regionally owned platform for dialogue and exchange aimed at making water an instrument for cooperation and peace in the region. With partners in Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Türkiye, and, to a limited extent Iran and Syria, the Blue Peace ME engages in a range of activities to realize its vision of a peaceful, water-secure future for the region.
From establishing the Water Diplomacy Center in Jordan to facilitating knowledge exchange and research on shared river basins, the Blue Peace ME is building bridges and nurturing trust among stakeholders. As of January 2023, Blue Peace ME has embarked on a new phase with the Coordination Office hosted at INWRDAM, focusing on resource management through the innovative WEFE Nexus approach.
