The Blue Peace Middle East (Blue Peace ME) initiative launched its new phase during a three-day event held in Amman from March 14-16, 2023, under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince El Hassan bin Talal. The event brought together senior water experts, government representatives, diplomats, and scientists from the Middle East, alongside regional and international organizations and donor community representatives. During the meeting, participants reflected on the initiative’s 12-year journey, highlighted the challenges and achievements, and discussed future strategies focused on promoting water cooperation and peace in the Middle East. The new phase emphasizes the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus, with plans for pilot projects and joint studies to address the region’s pressing water issues. Key topics included transboundary water cooperation, youth engagement, and regional capacity building. The event also featured a site visit to the Jordan Valley, where participants observed innovative irrigation techniques and water resource management in action, reinforcing the importance of regional collaboration and sustainable water solutions​.
