Rural Household Level Sanitation Technologies Suitable for OIC Countries, 14-17 December 2015, Istanbul, Turkey

The International Workshop on “Rural Household Level Sanitation Technologies Suitable for OIC Countries”  was conducted in Istanbul, Turkey during 14-17 December 2015 in cooperation with TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, Istanbul, Turkey (MAM) and The Islamic Development Bank, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia (IDB).

The main aim of this training workshop was to introduce and inform high-level officials from a number of INWRDAM member countries dealing with water resources management about the potential benefits of rural household level sanitation technologies as a practical and cost effective method that pertain mainly to natural treatment based on constructed wetland.

TUBITAK Marmara Research Center, Environment and Cleaner Production Institute, Istanbul, Turkey (MAM) has a history of applied research and development activities including wastewater treatment and reuse and in particularly deals with natural treatment methods.

This training was conducted in the form of presentations; lectures; discussions and a field visit to observe a sample technology used for wastewater treatment based on natural treatment methods.

The Inter-Islamic Network on Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM) Amman, Jordan, prepared the CONSTRUCTED WETLAND MANUAL For Design, Construction, Operation and Maintenance based on this workshop.
