Istanbul Conference 17-18 May 2016

The Islamic Conference in Istanbul recently concluded its session, where a unanimous decision was made to establish the OIC Water Council. The main goal of this council is to foster collaboration among member states when it comes to water related matters. Ministers and delegation leaders acknowledged the challenges their countries face with regards to water issues and stressed the significance of increased cooperation. This establishment of the Water Council marks a milestone in implementing the OIC Water Vision. One of the responsibilities of this council is to devise strategies that enhance capabilities and prevent waterborne diseases. Additionally. during the conference SESRIC presented a report highlighting water projects and activities carried out by member states in 2015.
