Vital region for INWRDAM’s work
Egypt represents a vital region for INWRDAM’s work, focusing on enhancing water resource management and fostering climate resilience. The establishment of the WEFE Nexus Unitunder the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MoWRI) is a cornerstone of our efforts, aimed at integrating the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus approach into national policies and practices. Our activities involve piloting WEFE Nexus in the Wadi Feiran Basin, South Sinai Governorate. The pilot project is a priority for the Egyptian government and aligns with national development strategies for Sinai, emphasizing water harvesting and agricultural development. The selection of Wadi Feiran is based on its strategic importance and the lack of existing water harvesting infrastructure. The pilot project, developed in a participatory approach with input from local communities, aims to meet their needs and promote sustainable development.
Our projects in Egypt emphasize collaborative approaches and capacity building. Through the Water Diplomacy and Advocacy program, we engage stakeholders to drive policy dialogue and enhance water governance. We also support local communities by implementing sustainable solutions and innovative practices to address water scarcity and improve resource efficiency.
